Expression of Interest regarding the tender for two Telecommunications Service Licences in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar

The Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has laid down the policy framework for the development of the country’s telecommunications and ICT industry by facilitating competition of both local and international operators in the sector. The main goals are to increase the overall tele-density of the country to 75% to 80% in 2015-2016, to make the telecommunications services available to the public at affordable prices, and to give the public the capability of choice for the telecommunications services.
In this context, the Union Government will award two nationwide telecommunications service licences by the first half of 2013. The Telecommunication Operator Tender Selection Committee officially set up by the Union Government invites telecommunications companies to express their interest.
As a first step, interested entities are required to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) no later than 3 PM, local time (Nay Pyi Taw, Republic of the Union of Myanmar), on January 25th, 2013 to the Telecommunication Operator Tender Evaluation and Selection Committee at mcit_tender@mcit. gov.mm or to Telecommunication Operator Tender Evaluation and Selection Committee, Office Building No (32), Nay Pyi Taw, Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
